Boca Raton faces south. In fact, that single fact separates it from every other city in Palm Beach County. Fort Lauderdale is twenty-two miles away and usually the faster airport; the county’s own airport is twenty-eight miles north. Boca’s corporate tenants, its two universities and its social life pull toward Broward and Miami-Dade rather than toward the island.

Boca Raton Airport is two miles northwest of the business district, next to Florida Atlantic University and on the interstate. In addition, it has one runway, 6,276 feet, with Atlantic Aviation and Signature on the field. Eight to fifteen minutes from downtown. There is a voluntary night curfew from ten in the evening to seven in the morning. In addition, the customs facility runs Thursday through Monday. Miami wins only when the itinerary demands its long-haul network.
Boca enforces design ordinances descended from Addison Mizner, and one practical consequence is that destinations are genuinely hard to find. In fact, signage is small, monochrome and set back. Similarly, office-park and plaza entrances are deliberately discreet.

A state safety project on US-1 through Boca began in late August 2026, removing traffic lanes across roughly a mile and a quarter of the downtown corridor. We use Dixie, Military Trail or the interstate depending on where you're going, and allow extra for anything that has to cross it downtown.
The Palmetto Park and Camino Real bridges are the crossings to the beach and The Boca Raton's Beach Club. Camino Real opens three times an hour — on the hour and at twenty and forty past — which is the one that catches people; we pick the bridge by the clock, not the map.
Florida Atlantic University has more than twenty-nine thousand students on its Boca campus. This includes the Schmidt College of Medicine and the Lynn College of Nursing. Its football stadium is now Flagler Credit Union Stadium. In contrast, Lynn University is a smaller private campus with the Wold Performing Arts Center.

Nearly a quarter of Boca residents are sixty-five or older. Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital was long ago renamed from Boca Raton Community Hospital. It anchors a campus that includes the Lynn Cancer Institute and the Marcus Neuroscience Institute. Similarly, West Boca Medical Center sits further west in unincorporated county. Appointment runs and post-procedure discharges are common, especially where the patient cannot legally drive. So is transport that adult children arrange for a parent. This is the least glamorous and most durable work we do here.
In fact, a large share of what people call Boca Raton is outside the city. The residential belt west of the Turnpike carries Boca mailing addresses. It sits in unincorporated Palm Beach County, with different police and different rules. Worth noting: the Delray Beach Open is in Delray Beach, and Addison Reserve and Opal Grand are Delray as well. There is no PGA Tour event in Boca. The Cognizant Classic is at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, fifty miles north. We serve all of these places; we just confirm the actual address before the day.
