Boynton Beach has no oceanfront inside its own city limits. The city owns and runs its beach, Oceanfront Park. It physically sits in the Town of Ocean Ridge, a consequence of a secession that happened in 1931. That is the first thing to know. As a result, a driver dispatched to ‘the Boynton beach’ is crossing into another municipality with its own police force.

The Ocean Avenue bascule is the only crossing to the barrier island inside the city. It opens on the hour and half-hour. Miss it and you wait a full cycle, or you detour north to Lantana or south to Woolbright. That is a materially worse position than Delray, which has two scheduled bridges on offset cycles. Any Ocean Ridge or barrier-island pickup with a flight attached gets a full bridge cycle built into the departure time. The A1A bridge over the inlet, incidentally, is a fixed span at eighteen feet. It does not open, whatever a list of Florida drawbridges tells you.
In contrast, DJT is thirteen or fourteen miles north, twenty to twenty-five minutes clean. Fort Lauderdale is thirty-two miles and forty minutes at best. That is not a marginal difference, the way it is in Delray. DJT wins clearly from here. We only recommend Fort Lauderdale when a specific flight or fare justifies it.
Baptist Health Bethesda Hospital East on South Seacrest is the city’s largest employer by a wide margin. It is more than three times the size of city government. Bethesda Hospital West serves the western communities. Delray Medical Center, a Level I trauma centre, is minutes to the south.
The demand that produces is scheduled and recurring rather than episodic. It includes post-procedure discharge where the patient cannot drive, plus multi-week treatment series and pre-operative appointments. These also include specialist consults in Delray or Boca. It is contract work with predictable volume. This work wants the same chauffeur, door-to-door assistance and no hurry at either end.
The city’s redevelopment agency publicly owns Boynton Harbor Marina on East Ocean Avenue. It is one of the few remaining publicly owned commercial marinas in Florida. In addition, its tenants are dive charters, fishing charters and pleasure cruises, with fuel, a ship store and transient dockage.
Dive boats leave at dawn. That produces a demand pattern unlike anywhere else nearby: a group pickup before sunrise, gear included, at a working dock. We do those. We do them with a Sprinter, rather than trying to fit six people and their kit into an SUV.
Palm Beach County Park Airport in Lantana is only about seven miles away, but with three runways under thirty-five hundred feet and no control tower, it takes piston, turboprop, light jet and helicopter traffic only. For a midsize or heavy business jet the field is Boca Raton, about seventeen miles south, or DJT.
Town Square's residential phases started in April 2026, and The Pierce broke ground in summer 2026 on North Federal Highway. East Ocean Avenue and the surrounding grid are live construction — we route airport runs to the interstate via Woolbright or Gateway instead.
There is no luxury or resort hotel in Boynton Beach. Guests stay in Delray, Boca or West Palm and come here — Boynton is more often an origin or a stop inside a longer trip than an overnight base.
Boynton’s season is not driven by hotel occupancy, because there is very little of it. Instead, it is driven by residents returning. The inbound wave runs late October into December. The outbound wave runs late March into May. In between, the work is steady, local and medical.
Boynton’s signature event is the Haunted Pirate Fest and Mermaid Splash at Centennial Park Amphitheater, at the end of October. It’s free, busy and worth routing around. In addition, a holiday boat parade follows in December.

Hunters Run, Delray Dunes, Quail Ridge and the Valencia-style developments west of Military Trail matter most here. These are where most of Boynton’s seasonal population lives. In fact, Delray Dunes and Hunters Run are both in Boynton Beach despite the names. The recurring jobs out of these communities are the ones nobody writes about. A parent flies out for the summer, or an adult child flies in to move them. Either way, it’s an airport day with luggage and a walker. A driver will come to the door inside the gate.
However, Boynton Beach Mall is open and hollowed out. Sears left in 2019, and Macy’s followed in March 2025. Developers have marketed the ninety-one-acre site for redevelopment for years without a buyer. Calling it a shopping destination would be wrong; calling it demolished would also be wrong. The real commercial spine is the Congress Avenue and Boynton Beach Boulevard corridor. That is where most of our daytime local work goes.
