Calder Casino on NW 27th Avenue operates a casino floor, electronic table games, a card room, a sportsbook and simulcast wagering. Worth being clear about what is no longer there: thoroughbred racing at Calder ended years ago and the grandstand was demolished in 2016. The casino is the venue that remains. Evening runs out to the north side of the city are ordinary work for us, and wait-and-return is usually the right call.
There is no hospital inside Miami Gardens; Jackson North is in North Miami Beach. Opa-locka Executive is in Opa-locka. Inter Miami’s new stadium is in the City of Miami beside the airport, not here, and the Marlins play in Little Havana. There is also a former Miami Gardens in Broward County that was absorbed into West Park in 2005 and is a completely different place. We say all this because a car sent to the wrong municipality on an event day is a genuinely expensive mistake.
