Every vehicle that enters or leaves Palm Beach crosses one of three drawbridges. That is the whole ground-transport problem on this island, stated in one sentence. A missed bridge opening costs eight to fifteen minutes, and all three bridges can be closed at the same moment.

The Flagler Memorial carries Royal Poinciana Way at the north end. The Royal Park carries Royal Palm Way in the middle and is the Worth Avenue bridge. The Southern Boulevard bridge is the south end and the direct airport axis. Each opens on a fixed twice-hourly schedule, and the schedules are not identical, which is exactly why a driver who works the island can save you a cycle and a driver who does not cannot.
Bridge schedules here have been revised more than once and are subject to Coast Guard rulemaking and occasional security overrides. We do not publish a timetable and neither should anyone else. We watch the current one and leave accordingly.
On this island the booking usually comes from an estate manager, a house manager or a family office, and the person riding is somebody else. Trips repeat across a five-month season: the club, the doctor on the mainland, a dinner, an airport run, an afternoon in Wellington.
We hold those as standing arrangements with the same chauffeur, confirm changes with whoever booked, and do not treat every leg as a new transaction. That is how the market here actually works.
The island’s clubs are private, largely unlisted, and each has its own arrival etiquette. Forecourts are valet-run with very little stacking room, and a Sprinter parked in one is a problem for everyone behind it.
Our practice is simple and it is the practice these properties prefer: we stage off-property and come to the door when you are ready. We do not invent protocol we have not been given, and we do not stage in a club forecourt.
The southern stretch of South Ocean Boulevard is subject to periodic federal security closures — in 2026 that segment was closed continuously from early March to early May. When it's closed we route via Royal Park and build the detour into the pickup time.
A meaningful number of residents here have security details or simply regard their presence at a given address as their own business. We do not post about our work or discuss manifests, and our chauffeurs are background-screened; we'll sign a confidentiality agreement for a household account.
Car carriers may not load or unload on any public street or right-of-way in the Town. Residents bringing a vehicle down for the season have to arrange the handover off-island.
Worth Avenue is four blocks of Mediterranean Revival with three-hour metered spaces on the street and valet at the Apollo lot off Hibiscus and in The Esplanade. It is not a street to circle. The Royal Poinciana Plaza to the north is easier, with a proper forecourt and a tighter cluster of shops and restaurants.
For a shopping afternoon or a dinner on the Avenue we recommend a retained vehicle rather than two separate transfers. The chauffeur takes the bags at the door and there is no walk to a garage at the end of it.

The season runs roughly November through April with a dense charity and gala calendar layered on top of it, February being the heaviest month. What is worth knowing is how much of it is not on the island: the Norton Museum and the Kravis Center are in West Palm Beach, the boat show is on Flagler Drive downtown, the antiques and jewellery show is at the county convention centre, and the equestrian season is fifteen miles inland in Wellington.
All of that is a bridge crossing away, which is precisely why it is worth having a car and a driver for the evening rather than a parking space.
DJT is roughly three and a half miles west of the island. From mid-island, plan fifteen to twenty-five minutes off-season and thirty to forty in season or during a security closure, and add a bridge cycle to whatever the map tells you.
DJT has full FBO service from Atlantic Aviation, Jet Aviation, Signature and NetJets. The county's general-aviation relievers are genuinely small and cannot take a heavy jet, so a larger aircraft lands at PBI or Boca — give us the FBO and the tail number.
There is no hospital on the island. Good Samaritan and St. Mary's are both in West Palm Beach, so every appointment is a bridge crossing with a schedule attached — we run those as standing bookings and assist at both doors.

Enough to clear one before it opens. Each of the three bridges runs on a fixed twice-hourly schedule and a missed opening is eight to fifteen minutes plus queue recovery. We pick the bridge and the departure time together, and in season we allow for the possibility of catching one anyway.

DJT, formerly Palm Beach International, in almost every case — it is only a few miles west of the island. Fort Lauderdale is about fifty miles and Miami about seventy, so those are flight-availability decisions rather than convenience ones, and we quote them as the long transfers they are.
