Lighthouse Point sits on the mainland. So unlike its neighbors across the water, there is no drawbridge on any inbound route. US-1 runs north to south through the city and I-95 is reached at Copans Road, Sample Road or Hillsboro Boulevard. That makes departure timing here far more predictable than in the beach towns opposite.
PBI is closer than MIA and often calmer. For a morning departure it is frequently the better airport. We will say so rather than defaulting to Fort Lauderdale.
PORT 32 Lighthouse Point on Marina Circle takes vessels up to eighty feet. It has a fuel dock and a Clean Marina designation. The Nauti Dawg restaurant also sits on the property. The Lighthouse Point Yacht Club, private and founded in 1961, is the other pole of the city’s boating life. In fact, it is currently the subject of a substantial redevelopment.

Cap’s Place is an island restaurant reachable only by boat. It opened in 1928 as Club Unique and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1990. Indeed, there is no road to the door.
What there is, is a mainland dock on Northeast 28th Court where the restaurant’s own launch collects guests. That dock is where we drop you and where we collect you afterwards. Any driver who says he will take you to Cap’s Place directly has never been.

Dan Witt Park, Frank McDonough Park, and Exchange Club Park are the city’s main public spaces. Frank McDonough also has clay tennis courts. There is no downtown district and no nightlife strip. Indeed, that is very much the point for the people who live here.
